From Bloom to Earth: K-Life’s Living Tribute at Jumpers and Jazz 2025
A Community That Creates, Together

This year, as part of the iconic Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival, the K-Life community came together to create something extraordinary. Our 2025 tree jumper installation, titled “From Bloom to Earth,” was more than a visual delight—it was a story woven from care, colour, and connection.
Set proudly on Palmerin Street, the tree was dressed in hundreds of handcrafted flowers, knitted petals, and cascading purple figures—all lovingly made by K-Life residents, staff, and volunteers. Every thread told a story. Every bloom carried meaning.
This year's festival theme was “Cascade”, and our tree captured that perfectly. Blooms spilled gently from the branches, down the trunk, and onto the pavement—mirroring the flow of life itself.
“Rooted in connection. Grown through care.”
That’s how we described it when we submitted our entry—and that’s exactly what it became.
Each flower was handmade, representing the time, creativity and heart of individuals across Killarney. The base of the tree featured a knitted garden filled with sunflowers, roses and violets—all bursting with colour and symbolism. Like the seasons of life, the piece moved from vibrant blossoms to the quiet beauty of earth-toned leaves at its roots.
It Wasn’t Just a Tree—It Was a Tribute
This installation was about more than art. It was about legacy, memory, and togetherness.
Our residents played a central role, contributing not only their skills but their stories. Many of them have been part of Killarney’s fabric for decades—and through this project, they added a little more beauty to it. The photos say it all: bright yarn, brighter smiles, and the quiet pride of being seen and celebrated.
In a festival filled with creativity, this tree stood out as a celebration of ageing, kindness, and community.
What It Meant to Us
Inspired by K-Life’s mission to honour every season of life with dignity and purpose, this tree jumper reminded us that community isn’t built in bursts—it blossoms when people come together, one act of care at a time.
Thank you to everyone who knitted, crocheted, stitched, or supported this beautiful display. You helped turn wool and wire into a living artwork—and a memory our community will hold onto for years to come.
